Over the past few years, Behringer has gone from a budget mixer/sound equipment manufacturer to a major player in the analog synthesizer game. By "cloning" or recreating famous legendary analog synthesizers that have gone out of copyright, Behringer has been able to provide synthesizers that would never be commercially available to the typical consumer, at reasonable rates.
In a recent Facebook post, Behringer releveled a new product, the mini-sized UB-1.
The UB-1 boasts two note polyphony, two DCOs, a 4-pole filter, and 16 touch sensitive keys. Perhaps the most impressive feature is the price tag, the UB-1 is supposed to cost just $50!
The UB-1 is a scaled down copy of the long awaited Behringer UB-Xa, a clone of the legendary polyphonic synthesizer, the OB-Xa.
Synth fans have been waiting for the UB-Xa for over four years now. Originally posted on this forum in January of 2018 by Uli Behringer, CEO of Behringer himself, development discussions were open on the forum. Getting customer feedback before creating the product seemed like a great idea at the time. However, several months into the conversation the Behringer team stopped responding to comments.
In the summer of 2020 the following video was posted:
Followed by nearly complete silence from the company, until they posted a video titled "UB-Xa Beta-Testing Complete" in January of 2021.
It is currently April of 2022 and no further information about the synthesizer has been released.
